Low-Stress Virginia Homeschool Evaluations: 2 Simple Ways to Show Proof of Progress

Is the August 1st deadline for "Proof of Progress" starting to weigh on your mind? At Curious and Free, we believe the end of your school year should be a time to celebrate your child’s unique journey—not a source of stress.

Legally, Virginia only requires me to verify individual progress in Language Arts and Math. This means your child is never compared to grade-level standards or other students. We focus entirely on how much they have grown!

To make this season as easy as possible, I offer two evaluation options tailored to your family's needs:

  • Simplified Evaluation ($60 per child): This 100% online option is perfect for self-assured homeschoolers who just need their "Proof of Progress" letter. Simply send coursework samples or an online transcript via email or text (showing the start, middle, and end of your year). No meeting is required—just a quick, professional exchange.

  • Homeschool Evaluation + Consultation: This option is ideal if you’d like a little extra support. We’ll meet via Zoom or in person at the Joint Use Library in Virginia Beach. I’ll review your student’s work samples, address any concerns, and provide personalized guidance to help you plan for the upcoming school year. (Pricing: 1 Child: $85, 2 children: $150, 3 children: $200)

Coursework samples may include worksheets, transcripts from online courses, photos or reflections from field trips, curriculum workbooks, and more. Since each family approaches homeschooling uniquely, each work sample will vary!

What You Receive

For both services, you will receive:

  1. A professional "Proof of Progress" letter addressed to your superintendent.

  2. Clear instructions on exactly how to submit your letter to the district.

Payment Details: I accept Venmo, Zelle, or credit cards (3% processing fee applies) at the time of service.
